October 2nd. We where joined by Paul Bailey and his mate Doug for a quick and gusty trip to the rocky outcrop near Howtown. Sailing to windward was hard work and an area of very strong wind had developed where the valley cuts through the fells down to Howtown making landing there impossible. Paul's recently restored Mark I handled the conditions well but the planned landing at Sandwick bay was just too much in these tricky autumnal conditions. Whilst travelling back to Watermillock we got up enough downwind speed in the Gull Spirit to have both of the Anderson bailers working well. That's a first!
More to follow soon.
